Quench: Things For and About Water — Sonoma, CA
March 16–April 30, 2022 | Alley Gallery, 148 East Napa Street, Sonoma, CA
A solo exhibition of ceramic work by Kala Stein exploring motifs of water, fragility, and changing landscapes through vessels, wall work, and experimental design. Stein considers the ceramic process a metaphor for geologic and climate change, using the kiln to simulate geologic transformation — cracking, melting, and fusing photographic imagery, earthen material, and metallic glaze to contemplate beauty, value, and loss within the context of climate change in Northern California.
Gallery reception & artist's talk: Thursday, April 7 | 4:00–7:00 p.m. | Artist's talk at 6:00 p.m. Open to the public.
Additional open hours: 1:00–6:00 p.m. on March 23, 24, 30 and April 6, 12, 20, and 27.
