Porcelain Echoes Summer Intensive — Jingdezhen, China

The second annual summer ceramics intensive returns to Jingdezhen. Set up in the private Menlo Studio, participants will respond to the city and explore the intersection of art, design, and production at the handmade scale.

Kala will lead group projects that initiate experimental learning centered on the physical and conceptual nuances of working with porcelain — in the extraordinary context of the city that has defined the material for centuries.

Beyond the studio classroom, participants will learn through demonstrations by master blue-and-white painters, mold makers, and a community of artists and artisans — both local and international — living and working in Jingdezhen.
