Fahrenheit 2024 — Pomona, CA

January 20–September 8, 2024 | AMOCA, 399 N Garey Ave, Pomona, CA | Juried by Kathy King

Kala's work Rain Gauge was selected for Fahrenheit 2024 at the American Museum of Ceramic Art, juried by Kathy King, Director of the Ceramics Program at Harvard University.

Rain Gauge is a 1:1 data visualization of California's annual precipitation from 2010–2021. Each vertical line represents a calendar year, with inches of rainfall rendered in blue photographic ink fired into glazed tile surfaces. The work continues Kala's exploration of water, fragility, and changing landscapes — treating the ceramic process as a metaphor for geologic and climate change.

Opening reception: January 20, 2024 | 4:00–6:00 p.m.
