Kala received the Best in Show Curator's Choice Award at Blue Line Arts for Ghost Rain #3, selected by curator Marianne McGrath — Chair of the Department of Art and Art History at California State University Channel Islands and board member of the Santa Paula Art Museum.

Natural Elements brought together artists whose work reflects or is inspired by the natural world, ranging from literal to abstract interpretations. Alongside Ghost Rain #3, Kala exhibited Atmospheric River and Sierra Melt.
